Combining an obverse of Constantine I with a reverse of Crispus
Lot 1676
Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.58 g, 1 h), Treveri, but likely a contemporary imitation, after 320. CONSTAN-TINVS AVG Laureate head of Constantine I to right. Rev. CAESARVM NOSTRORVM around VOT / • / V in laurel wreath; in exergue, PTR. Cf. RIC 317 (for obverse) and RIC 440 (for reverse). Light corrosion spots on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.

This coin combines an obverse of Constantine I with a reverse of Crispus. It could be a official hybrid issue, but the very slightly irregular style indicates an excellent contemporary imitation.
